Position Overview:
HGM Associates is seeking a Land Surveyor to support land surveying and geospatial services for transportation infrastructure and civil engineering projects in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. This position is ideal for a survey professional with prior field experience who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
In this role, the Land Surveyor will perform field survey operations including construction staking, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys. Responsibilities include collecting accurate field data, operating survey equipment, maintaining clear documentation, and completing assigned work under the direction of the Survey Team Manager.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation infrastructure and land surveying projects while continuing to develop technical expertise in survey data collection, construction layout, and geospatial fieldwork.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks and field assignments as directed by the Survey Team Manager
- Perform field survey operations including construction staking, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys
- Collect and document accurate survey data to support project design and construction activities
- Operate survey equipment and utilize survey software and tools
- Maintain accurate field notes, documentation, and survey records
- Assist with survey layout and construction staking in accordance with project requirements
- Communicate and coordinate with survey team members, engineers, and project managers during project execution
- Support survey data processing and preparation for use in design and construction deliverables
- Follow project specifications, survey procedures, and applicable safety requirements while performing fieldwork
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum one year of prior survey field experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with construction staking, boundary surveys, or topographic surveys
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform fieldwork
- Ability to work overtime when required due to project schedules
- Ability to occasionally travel out of town and stay overnight
- Strong attention to detail with solid verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
Preferred:
- Technical school or Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Experience with survey data collection, field survey operations, and construction layout
- Familiarity with survey software and tools, including Civil 3D and data collectors
- Strong math and computer skills, including experience with Excel and survey-related software
