HGM Associates Inc. has an immediate opportunity for a Civil Construction Inspector/Observer to join our rapidly growing Transportation Practice in our Omaha, Nebraska office. Our ideal candidate is someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can work both independently and in a team environment. They must be familiar with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods, and processes. Types of inspection will include concrete roadway, bridge, general civil, traffic control, and utility/underground construction. The position receives supervision and support from more senior field representatives and the primary Construction Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Provide construction inspection services for major Transportation and Civil projects.
- On-site observation while construction work is being completed by a contractor.
- Documentation of the project progress and materials incorporated in the project.
- Material testing (concrete in particular), or coordination of material testing service providers.
- Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Two-year tech school degree or four-year college degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience inspecting civil engineering projects including concrete, asphalt, bridge, storm, and sanitary sewer; experience on Federal aid projects a plus
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications and a proven job history of determining conformance of constructed work with contract requirements
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- ACI Field Concrete Certification preferred
- Nebraska DOT Technician Certifications in asphalt inspection, concrete inspection, earthwork, and Site Manager experience preferred
- Relevant industry certifications preferred
- Ability to interpret construction schedules preferred
- Local candidates preferred

Salary: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour with a generous bonus program

License/Certification:
