Architectural Designer

HGM Associates has an immediate opening for a full time Architectural Designer

HGM provides a full array of Commercial Architectural, Engineering, Surveying and Landscape Architecture Services to the Midlands since 1960. The Architecture Department provides a diverse commercial workload in facilities types such as Educational, Fire Stations, Police Stations, Banks, City Operated Maintenance Buildings.

Duties

  • Gather design requirements for new or remodeled construction project from clients.
  • Prepare architectural drawings based on design requirements for review by client.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with clients and project team.
  • Modify and update designs as needed.
  • Manage, support and help guide team members in developing projects from concept through Construction Documents.
  • Assist in providing project cost estimates and schedules for clients to review.
  • Research and select products for project.
  • Assist in writing technical specifications for each project.
  • Assist in preparing contract documents suitable for submission to approving governmental agencies and bidding contractors.
  • Coordinate the architectural drawings with all project engineering disciplines and their associated drawings.
  • Work directly with support staff in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Conduct periodic on-site visits during construction to monitor compliance with plans.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Candidate must have minimum 5 years work experience as an architectural designer. Licensed preferred, but not required.
  • Experienced in commercial design and detailing.
  • Experienced in writing and putting together technical specifications.
  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD. Experience in Photoshop and/or CorelDRAW preferred.
  • Ability to provide direction and detail to team members.
  • Proficient in preparing presentation drawings and marketing materials.
  • Capable of prioritizing and handling multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to groups of people.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Highly organized and detailed orientated.
  • Self-starter—work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. A.
Architectural Revit/CAD Tech

HGM Associates has an immediate opening for a full time Architectural Revit/CAD Tech.

HGM provides a full array of Commercial Architectural, Engineering, Surveying and Landscape Architectural Services to the Midlands since 1960.

Duties

  • Prepare drawings from sketches, notes, details and/or verbal instructions.
  • Prepare set of plans including floor plans, elevations, sections, detail schedules, etc.
  • Prepare 3D computer models from floor plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Prepare presentation drawings and graphics.
  • Submittal Management for Projects.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) year Associates Degree in engineering / drafting technology or related.
  • 2+ years job experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Photoshop and/or CorelDRAW experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Capable of working within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detailed orientated.

Civil Engineering Designer / Construction Observer

Civil Engineering Designer / Construction Observer:

HGM is looking for a highly motivated Design Technician or a Civil Engineer Intern.

Requirements: 2-year degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a 4-year degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with an FE certificate, self-motivated and able to work 8-10 hours/day and 5-6 days/week (during construction season), experienced in Microsoft programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and a valid driver’s license

Necessary Skills: Ability to work on a team, possess good written and verbal communication skills, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and work within critical deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Able to read and understand project plans, specifications and project schedules
  • Familiar with typical construction activities to include grading; culvert, storm and sanitary sewer installation; PCC and HMA paving; structural concrete placement; and erosion control installation
  • Daily coordination and interaction with general contractor and sub-contractors, owners personnel, utility companies, project management team, design team, and materials testing personnel
  • Certified in Iowa DOT AGG1, PCC1 and HMA Sampler preferred
  • Understanding of topographical and construction survey procedures
  • Able to read, understand and interpret design standards and guides
  • Knowledge of MicroStation and Geopak or Autocad Civil 3D
  • Prior job experience in roadway, grading or utility design and construction
Microstation Design and Drafting Technician

Municipal and Infrastructure design and drafting for our Council Bluffs Office for work in the Omaha metro and surrounding areas.

  • 5-10 –years of experience as a design technician; OR.
  • 2-year tech degree and commensurate experience.
  • Detail oriented and good communicator.
  • Able to read and understand drafting standards, project plans, and project schedule.
  • Prompt and able to work overtime when required due to project schedule.
  • Experienced in Microsoft programs OUTLOOK, WORD and EXCEL.
  • Strong experience with Microstation or AutoCAD required, Civil 3D experience preferred.
